WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
WILDLIFE

CELEST EXTRA is classified as ‘Harmful to game, wild birds and animals’.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS

Risk management is advised, CELEST EXTRA is of low toxicity to birds and mammals, if directly consumed. Bury or remove spillages of treated seed immediately to avoid consumption. Care must be taken to keep treated seed secure from domestic stock/pets and wildlife at all times during storage and use to avoid accidental consumption. ‘Treated seed must not be used for food or feed’. Treated seed should not be broadcast.

Seed should be drilled to a depth of 40mm into a well prepared seed bed. If seed is present on the soil surface, or if spills have occurred, then, if conditions are appropriate, the field should be harrowed and then rolled to ensure good incorporation.

BEES
No risk management is necessary as the risk of exposure to bees from seed treatment use is low.

NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
No risk management necessary. CELEST EXTRA poses a low risk to a range of arthropod species commonly found in and around treated fields, e.g. ground beetles and ladybirds.

AQUATIC LIFE
CELEST EXTRA is classified as ‘Harmful to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment’.

CELEST EXTRA is of high toxicity to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Care should be taken to ensure that surface waters or ditches are not contaminated with the product or with the used container.

No risk management necessary. When used according to the label instructions, the risk to aquatic life is low.

Not categorised under the LERAP scheme.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER

CELEST EXTRA has moderate persistence in soil. Fludioxonil is strongly bound to the soil and is not considered to be mobile. Difenoconazole is strongly absorbed to soil and not considered as mobile. Use of CELEST EXTRA according to the label instructions presents a low risk to groundwater.

EARTHWORMS

No risk management necessary. CELEST EXTRA is of low toxicity to earthworms. In practice the risk to earthworms is low.

SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS

No risk management necessary. No effect on soil microbial processes were found and so the risk is considered to be low.

NON-TARGET PLANTS
CELEST EXTRA is applied as a seed treatment and so the impact on non-target plants is expected to be minimal.
